Lörrach, April 2010. Since March 13, 2010 IADAA’s new English and German website has been online. Every user who is interested in ancient objects will immediately find all necessary information about the most important international dealers in ancient art at www.iadaa.org. Every member of IADAA has a personal site there, where he or she can present their gallery. This enables the Internet user to find the latest contact details of each IADAA member at one glance.

Beyond that, there is a lot of further information about collecting ancient art. IADAA has created a detailed section on cultural property issues. It contains published papers of IADAA members (only in the original language) and an anthology of quotations of well-known scholars, which run counter to some current mantras about the market, collecting and the state of archaeology.

All press releases of IADAA will be published on the new website. Everybody can read them there as soon as they have been released. 597 users from 30 nations have visited the site within the first two weeks. Gordian Weber, chairman of IADAA, states: “The Internet becomes more and more important, in order to approach younger collectors. We expect more attention for the prestigious and responsible-minded trade in ancient objects from our Internet presence. We will expand our website’s offers.

Indeed, it is intended to amplify the website. The next project will be a short summary on the history of the trade in ancient objects.

The International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA) was formed in London in 1993. IADAA is the international association of leading dealers in works of ancient art with high ethical standards. Members adhere to a stringent code of conduct designed to serve not only the interests of their clients but also the integrity of the objects themselves.
At present, 29 members from nine countries belong to IADAA. Membership is highly sought after but hard to achieve; applications are rigorously vetted.
